I was initially looking at something along the lines of SMF Simple Machines Forum — SMF in short — is a free, professional grade software package that allows you to set up your own online community within minutes. It does not compare in any meaningful way with something like SMF, but is more than adequate for the type of low volume site I build.
It's a real joomla component, so you can't go wrong. But if you want something for a bigger forum, I think phpbb board bridged with joomla is a good idea I tried but didn't work for me, but maybe it will for you. This one isn't! Mustaq -War defines who's left , not who's right
